Random Thoughts Tuesday: 2020 is almost over!

Stacy Uncorked

I’ve known Stacy, from Stacy Uncorked for several years. We originally met through the blogging world, then ended up living near each other, and becoming friends IRL. She’s hilarious, and MAKES HER OWN WINE! You should absolutely follow her. She hosts this wonderful thing called Random Thoughts Tuesday, where you can ramble about all sorts of things and no one thinks you’re (totally) crazy. You know, all those shower thoughts you don’t share, random tidbits of info you can never work in to a conversation, or musings you’d like to chat about, but aren’t enough to make a full blog post. It’s really cathartic, and I highly recommend you participate, if you blog. It’s like a brain dump!

So, let’s get on with the dumping random.

-It’s the last Tuesday of 2020! This crazy, awful, weird year is almost over! I remember last December how excited everyone was for the “Roaring 20s.” Ah, what optimistic fools we were.

-COVID-19 side effects SUCK. Despite being very careful, my teen (I don’t have his permission to use his real name yet) and I are just getting over active COVID, but the linger side effects are the WORST. Some days I feel fine, but then I’ll have a day where I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. The randomness of it makes it worse, because I never know when it’s going to happen. I also tire quickly, even doing the slightest thing. Teen occasionally gets out of breath just walking up the stair! I know some people who have these side effects MONTHS after getting over active COVID. That’s no way to live.

-My younger son had COVID back in Jan, before we even knew what it was. They tested him for everything, and couldn’t figure it out. He was sick for weeks and weeks and it was a very scary time. He eventually got over it, but still has days where he tires quickly. Now we know why.

-We found out he’d had it months later when a blood draw showed the antibodies. How did he get it? Probably from a kid at school whose parents had just come home from some deployment or TDY (temporary duty) in Korea. Maybe.

-The governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan, is in a series of commercials that all end with him saying: “Wear the damn mask.” They make me giggle for some reason.

-Do you watch The Mandalorian? If not, WHY NOT? IT’S AMAZING.

This is the best thing ever! Seriously, watch The Mandalorian!

-I really want to try aerial yoga, but I’m fairly certain I’d manage to fall off and make a fool out of myself. That or get tangled in the fabric and have to be cut out or something.

-I took our tree down early, to make room for packing boxes and it makes me sad. I love Christmas trees!

-I started working on my 2021 journal/planner. It’s always exciting to start a new year. I have such great intentions, and while I always finish the year, it never goes the way I intend. Stupid, non-predictable world. Why can’t things just go the way I plan?

If I had a doctorate, I’d have it embroidered on all my clothes and tattooed in multiple places in my body. Just saying.
I long to be a morning person, I really do, but no matter how hard I try, I just can’t make it happen. How do people do it?

Okay, that’s enough for today, I guess. I mean, I have more to say, but I really have to get packing.

Slón

Hello and welcome!

Little old me. No filter!

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by (even if it was by accident). My name is Slón (pronounced like Sloan, but spelled weird—a fact I thank my parents for on a frequent basis). I used to blog years and years ago, but Google+ ate 7 years of photos and I lost my passion for it. After living through 2020, and the colossal crapfest that it was, including a bout of COVID-19, I decided I needed to get my ass in gear and get back to the world of blogging. Why, you might be wondering? Well, mostly to stave off boredom, find some focus, and make myself accountable. Accountable? Yes, accountable. I found that if I have readers who count on me and will say “hey, remember when you said…” motivates me to follow through. So please, remind me when I don’t do something, okay?

What will I write about? Um, everything? My life as a military spouse, the mom of an adult teen, a tween, our new house (moving Jan 2021!), and the projects we have planned, having my mom and stepdad live in an in-law suite (one of the aforementioned projects), my small craft business, tiaras (I have several and I like to wear them when I do stuff around the house), high heels, journaling tips, organizing and cleaning (hahahaha—just typing that made me snort), our dogs, our turtles (yes, we have turtles as pets), my never ending obsession with Stargate, my undying adoration for Baby Yoda (yes, I know his name is Grogu, but he will always be Baby Yoda to me), my love of tangents and random thoughts/trivia (and parenthetical comments), books I read, plays I (hopefully) will see, trips I take with my fangirl friends (again, hopefully in the near future), maybe a bit of golf, and whatever else pops into my mind.

I hope you stick around. I love getting to know readers and other bloggers.

PS: Why is 73 in my blog title? Because the adayinthelife was already taken, and 1973 is the year I was born, so it was easy to remember. Now you know how old I am!
